Auburn University BSCI Service Project

This project was a fun task that helped me grow in my construction experience with my friends. I was able to help others learn and develop skills in the production of the shed. – Sam Hoza

This project helped me harness my skills in 3D modeling, as well as an opportunity to use my previous construction experience to help get the project finished. -Jackson Schnell

I was able to use my previous field experience to help lead on the actual construction of the shed. It was an opportunity to be able to not only help lead the efforts on construction, but to also help others learn. – Travis Eubanks

This project helped give me a sample of what to expect with project management. This was a great way for me to step into that position by organizing, planning, and building. – Turner Easterbrook

If we did this project over we would have split into two groups earlier on. We found that with 10 people on this project working at the same time often resulted in 3-4 people just standing because there wasn’t enough work that could be done simultaneously. We would also have pre-built the entire shed at the field house. With our schedules the only days we could get more than 2-3 hours in for work was Friday. It was also a hindrance that it was an hour in transportation round trip, that also limited the amount of work that we could do in a day. -Clayton Carter

Getting the door in place to where it would open and shut without scraping against the frame was the most difficult part of the project.  We had to trim/save members with a skill saw and sander to get the door to open perfectly.- Sam Davis

The biggest surprises were the pre-existing obstructions that were blocking our shed, and the lack of care taken care of the yard where the shed was being built. Waist high grass isn’t the most ideal scenario for construction.- Coleman Lay

We learned that even on a small project such as a shed that it takes a ton of organization, planning, and teamwork to produce a final product.- Joseph Humber

I really enjoyed being able to go out and work with all the guys in the group. We learned a lot about teamwork and being patient with eachother. - Jordan Lake
